Using Statuses
Track feedback through your workflow with statuses.
Using Statuses
Every post has a status that shows where it is in your workflow. Statuses help you track progress and communicate with users.
Default Statuses
Quackback comes with six default statuses organized into three categories:
Active Statuses
These represent work in progress:
| Status | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Open | New feedback, not yet reviewed |
| Under Review | Your team is evaluating this |
| Planned | Approved and on your roadmap |
| In Progress | Currently being built |
Complete Statuses
| Status | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Complete | Feature has shipped |
Closed Statuses
| Status | When to Use |
|---|---|
| Closed | Won't be implemented |
Changing Status
To change a post's status:
- Open the post from your inbox
- Click the status dropdown
- Select the new status
The change is instant and:
- Updates on your public portal
- Notifies subscribed users (for significant changes)
Status Categories
Statuses belong to one of three categories:
- Active — Work is ongoing or planned
- Complete — Work is done
- Closed — No action will be taken
Categories affect how posts appear in your roadmap and reports.
Roadmap Visibility
Some statuses appear on your public roadmap:
- Planned ✓
- In Progress ✓
- Complete ✓
You can configure which statuses show on the roadmap in Custom Statuses.
Status Change Notifications
When you change a status, subscribers can be notified:
| Change | Notification |
|---|---|
| Any → Planned | "Your feedback is on our roadmap!" |
| Any → In Progress | "We're working on this!" |
| Any → Complete | "This has shipped!" |
| Any → Closed | "We've closed this request" |
Users can manage their notification preferences.
Best Practices
Use "Under Review" Generously
Move new posts to "Under Review" quickly. It shows users you've seen their feedback.
Be Thoughtful About "Closed"
When closing a post, consider:
- Adding a comment explaining why
- Pointing to alternatives
- Being respectful of the user's time
Keep "In Progress" Accurate
Only use "In Progress" when work has actually started. Users will be disappointed if it sits there for months.
