Notifications

Quackback keeps users informed about feedback they care about through email notifications.

How Notifications Work

Users subscribe to feedback posts. When something happens, subscribers get notified:

  1. User subscribes — Automatically when they submit, vote, or comment
  2. Something changes — Status update, new comment, official response
  3. Email sent — Subscribers receive an email
  4. User stays informed — They can take action if needed

Subscription Triggers

Users automatically subscribe when they:

  • Submit a post
  • Vote on a post
  • Comment on a post

Users can also manually subscribe or unsubscribe.

Notification Types

Status Change

When a post moves to a new status:

  • "Your feedback is now Planned!"
  • "Good news: this feature is In Progress!"
  • "This has been marked Complete!"

New Comment

When someone adds a comment:

  • Shows who commented
  • Preview of the comment
  • Link to view full discussion

Official Response

When your team posts an official response:

  • Highlighted as important
  • Full response content
  • Link to the post

Managing Subscriptions

Users can control their notifications:

  • Subscribe — Opt into updates for a post
  • Unsubscribe — Stop receiving updates
  • Mute — Pause notifications temporarily

See Notification Preferences for details.

Team Notifications

Team members receive notifications differently:

  • Admin dashboard shows activity
  • Slack integration for real-time alerts
  • Email digest options
